Peter received numerous awards from his degree. Like any other ordinary man, he wanted and dreamed to have his own business. Just as he graduated from his college degree, he saved money, applied for a loan of $8,000, and risked for a 20 percent share on a Women’s Wear Company.
Peter Nygard exerted effort and had the company running from near bankruptcy to $800,000 annual sales. Eventually, Peter became the owner of one of Canada’s most successful Women’s Wear Company today, the Nygard International Women’s Wear.
Today, the company engrosses in to manufacture, wholesale, design and retail sales in North America. It does not only venture in clothing alone, but also offers handbags, hats, footwear, scarves, gloves, jewellery, belts, men’s and ladies optical, swimwear and watches. Peter Nygard has not failed in escalating the reputation of his company for it already has operations and stores in Europe, Sri Lanka, and Mexico. Because of his great effort and focus on his business, the seeds of his work were produced and in the year 2009, he was declared to the 70th richest Canadian-by-Canadian Business Magazine with the net worth of $817 million. Currently, Peter has his own island called Nygard Cay at the Bahamas. Peter also earns money from the private island through rentals by famous and rich celebrities and people from the high society.
